Myths vs. Reality: Debunking Common Car-Buying Myths at McCarthy Chevy Olathe

February 13, 2026 · 2 min read

Buying a car can feel overwhelming, especially with so much misinformation floating around. At McCarthy Chevy Olathe, we want to make your car-buying experience clear, simple, and stress-free. Let’s break down some of the most common car-buying myths and separate fact from fiction.

Myth 1: “You Always Get a Better Deal at the End of the Month”

Reality: While dealerships do track sales goals, great deals are available year-round. At McCarthy Chevy Olathe, we focus on transparent, competitive pricing every day, not just at month-end. You can find exceptional deals any time you shop, especially with our rotating leasing specials and incentives.

Myth 2: “Financing Is Always Cheaper Than Leasing”

Reality: It depends on your lifestyle and goals. Leasing can offer lower monthly payments and the chance to drive a new vehicle every few years, while financing gives full ownership and long-term value. At McCarthy Chevy Olathe, we help you compare both options to find the right fit for your budget and driving habits.

Myth 3: “You Can’t Negotiate at a Big Dealership”

Reality: Big doesn’t mean impersonal. At McCarthy Chevy Olathe, we combine a large inventory and competitive Midwest pricing with personalized customer service. You still have room to negotiate trade-ins, specials, and payment terms. Our team works with you to make sure you feel confident and informed.

Myth 4: “The Best Deal Is Only on the Cheapest Vehicle”

Reality: The lowest sticker price doesn’t always mean the best value. Consider warranty coverage, fuel efficiency, safety features, and long-term reliability. McCarthy Chevy Olathe helps you find the balance between cost and value, ensuring you get the most out of your investment.

Myth 5: “All Dealerships Are the Same”

Reality: Not all dealerships are created equal. McCarthy Chevy Olathe stands out because we offer:

One of the largest Chevrolet inventories in the KC metro
Some of the best pricing in the Midwest
Fast, transparent service from our sales and service teams
Resources to make buying easier, like our payment calculator and trade-in prep tools
